Four Cups of Transcension: Reclaiming the Biblical Potential of Human Physiology

A history of phenomenal human ability is recorded in the Bible.  In ancient times, people were living supernatural lives!  We often focus on the spiritual journey of our biblical ancestors but very rarely, if ever, speak about the incredible human feats of physiological strength and stamina God gave to his closest friends on earth:

- Ruth walked with Naomi from Moab to Bethlehem, approximately 50 miles
- Sampson was a one man army more powerful than the combined strength of 100 men
- Elijah ran at a full sprint pace for approximately 30 miles starting from the top of a mountain
- It is said that Paul walked over 10,000 miles on three separate occasions
- Jacob wrestled with the angel of God for nearly an entire day
- Job lived an entire lifetime and then God blessed him with another 140 years of life on earth in the same body
- God first told Abraham at the age of 75 that he would have a baby with his wife Sarah.  They did not have that first child until they were 100 and 90 years old
- King David was a shepherd, often fighting off wolves and even lions. He then later became one of the greatest warriors of the Old Testament, which meant training drills and long durations of hard living
- Moses was almost 80 years of age before God began using him as his leader to save the people of Israel from the tyranny of the Egyptians.  Keep in mind that Moses climbed all the way up a mountain, did not eat or drink for forty days and then walked back down carrying two huge stone tablets

Are these abilities myth, legend, or reserved just for our ancient biblical heroes. Is it possible that God has a plan today that would allow ordinary people to accomplish extra-ordinary things.

A strong relationship with God leads to greater health outcomes

A tightly woven or well-formed relationship between God (spirit), our body, and soul is the key factor to seeing today what was witnessed thousands of years ago, throughout bible times

Four Cups: God's Timeless Promises for a Life of Fulfillment a book written by Pastor Chris Hodges explores the hidden gift of transcending.  Regaining our superhuman prowess requires that we move from where we are today in spirit, body and soul to where we were thousands of years ago (a stronger connection to our God and our own human functioning).  The Four Cups is another name for what is referred to as Seder, Passover, or Pesach which is the process by which we are able to become greater.  Pastor Chris explains the process to transcension is unlocked by tapping into the spiritual power of the four cups: the cups of salvation, deliverance, redemption, and fulfillment.

Transcend: Process to Outcome
From a fitness perspective we take the concept of the Four Cups one step further, moving from process (salvation, deliverance, redemption, and fulfillment) to outcome.  The cups continue to provide separate functions in us but the cup names shift based on outcome from the process of the Four Cups as follows

CUP 1 salvation to purity
CUP 2 deliverance to strength
CUP 3 redemption to restoration
CUP 4 fulfillment to protection

Understanding and practicing the Four Cups of Fitness will not only bridge us toward achieving our short term health goals but also catapult us to transcend as a people to higher heights.
