The names Your names the person of Jesus The High King

[These] name[s] will be on their foreheads.
I [Jesus] will write on them [my name].
The name:
- Word of God
- Jesus: savior of people from their sins (Mt 1:20-21)
- God (Ge 1:27; Jn 10:34; Ps 82)
- New Jerusalem of heaven from God
- king of kings and lord of lords
- Immanuel: meaning “God with us” (Mt 1:23)
- my new name: a name written on him that no one knows but [Jesus] himself

To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end I will give that one:
- authority from my Father just as I have received
- the morning star
- authority over the nations and that one will rule [as] an iron scepter and will dash [the nations] to pieces like pottery

I am:
- the bright Morning Star
- an iron scepter to rule the nations
- the Root and the Offspring of David

These are the words of:
- him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again
- him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David
- the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation
who is called Faithful and True

  1. According to 1 Samuel 8:1-20 the idea of the role of a king came about at the request of the people. The establishment of a king is to optimize fair rulership, righteousness, order, and the best interest of the nation.

A king is meant to lead and protect his citizens.

  2. Camp of God’s people, The City he Loves

The temporary place with accommodations of huts, tents, or other structures of God's people, a large urban town that has a name, with defined boundaries, and a local government. He loves this temporary city.
